Seattle Chiropractor Discusses Secrets to a Better Night's Sleep

Hey Everyone! Dr. Zapata with Emerald City Spinal Care, back again to bring you another Tip of the Week! This week, I’m going to be talking about something we all need….sleep! More importantly, I want to share a few secrets that I have picked up and adopted over the years that can help you get a better night sleep.

A good nights rest has many benefits, some of which include:

  • Reduced Stress
  • Improved Memory
  • Prevention of Depressions
  • Faster Healing

Those all seem fairly important, yes? I would certainly say so! So, with that in mind, I’d like to share some tips with you on how you can get better sleep.

  1. The first tip is to try to unwind before going to bed. OK, great…but how? Well, a few things that can help you unwind are to avoid watching television for thirty minutes before you go to bed. Also try avoiding those last minute emails that come in before you go to bed, and avoid surfing the web…or at least checking out pages that are likely to get your mind racing.
  2. The next tip is to read a good book that helps you relax, or journal. Journaling can be especially helpful if you have a lot on your mind, as it can help you get those thoughts out of your head so that you can “shut down” for a good nights rest!
  3. Third, try keeping your mobile devices out of the bedroom. Your phone or tablet are both things that can distract you (especially when you are receiving notifications in the middle of the night) and rob you of sleep.
